Following the recent rating of Osun State is one of the states with low crime incidences by the National Bureau of Statistics, some youths organizations in the state have lauded the state government for the feat.

It would be recalled that the bureau in its latest ranking list for 2016 ranked Osun as the 13th crime free state in the country with an 0.94 index.


At a youth conference held in Osogbo, Osun State capital, representatives of youth groups from across the state said the feat was achievable because of genuine intervention of the state government in bringing down the spate of crime in the state


One of the coordinator of the youth groups, Adewale Aladejobi noted that the efforts of government inn building and sustaining the current peace in the state has worked out adding that government’s huge investment in security agencies saddled with the protection of lives and property is the only answer to address the security challenges the nation is facing.


Aladejobi who particularly made reference to some security facilities acquired by the government and other peace building measures recently put in place by the state Governor Rauf Aregbesola in his bid to ensure peace and security in the state said the purchase and distribution of 125 patrol vehicles to security agencies in the state and the provision of 25 fully equipped Armouref Personnel Carriers to the state Police Command hades helped in ni small measures.


The youths further noted with delight the recent establishment of Citizens Mediation Centres in some parts of the state by the governor with a view to mediate in some disagreement and civil conflicts adding that all efforts have helped in promoting peace and harmony among indigenes and other residents.


Aladejobi noted that the establishment of citizen mediation centres have increase access to justice and reduces cost of seeking justice.


They further thanked the governor for using part of his security vote to pay allowances of the over 10,000 youths employed under the state State Youth Empowermnt Scheme, (OYES); Osun Sheriff Corps and the Traffic Marshal.


Aladejobi said “apart from using the occasion to appreciate efforts of the governor in promoting peace, they we are also celebrating the recent ranking of the state by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) as one of the most secured states in the federation, which in his view was the result of the governor’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secured environment through his investment in that direction.


“There is peace and harmony all over the state which I believe is as a result of the govetnor’s commitment and his massive investment in securtiy outfits across the state as well as the huge suppory he received ftom the leadership and members of these security outfits”, Aladejobi said.
