The Chairman of Accord Party in Osun State, Mr Olusegun Fanibe, has disclosed that his party was ready for the local government election fixed for January 27, 2018 by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission.
Fanibe said this in a chat with Daily Trust during a rally held by the party at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park in Osogbo, capital of Osun State which was attended by chieftains of Accord Part including Mr Doyin Okupe, the former spokesperson of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
The AP chairman said though his party was not comfortable with the parliamentary system introduced in the state by the administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola, it will participate in the January election.
His words: “Though, we are not happy with the parliamentary system that was introduced by Governor Aregbesola, notwithstanding, we are set for the January 27th local government election in Osun State and we will contest and win. ”
“We will show the government in power in Osun that there is opposition since the Peoples Democratic Party that is supposed to play the role of opposition is not doing it.
“Through this election, the state government will feel the existence of an opposition party in this state,” Fanibe said.
