Members of Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme, otherwise called OYES Cadets, at the weekend trooped out in large number to celebrate the outcome of the Appeal Court verdict on the state governorship election which affirmed the victory of Governor Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola as the winner of the September 22 poll and subsequent rerun held on September 27, 2018. The OYES Cadets who converged at Orita Olaiya marched and danced across major streets of Osogbo amidst jubilation. Coordinated by its Commandant, Colonel Eniibunkun Oyewole (rtd), the cadets about 5,000 drawn across the 30 local government councils of the state said while addressing them and the newsmen that the success of Oyetola at the Appeal Court had saved their job. Oyewole said they decided to embark on the victory march so as to express their gratitude to God for the Governor’s victory at the Court of Appeal. He said it would be another story, if the event turned otherwise, adding that they didn’t pray for a party which has no tangible programmes for the betterment of the youth to be at the helm of the affairs of the state. Represented by Mr Samuel Ajani Oluyemi, Chairman of OYES mentors, Oyewole saluted the gallantry decision of the court of appeal which upheld the victory of the governor He noted that the verdict has put to rest the backdoor judgment procured by the PDP and confirmed the rightful owner of the mandate. According to OYES Commandant, “it would have be another story, if the appellate court has done otherwise. You wouldn’t have seen us rejoicing as we are now, we would have been mourning because is like a baby that is sucking the breast and somebody now forcefully remove that baby from the breast of his mother, can you imagine the baby would keep on crying. “No any government can come on board and perform excellently well as the government of the day is doing, especially in the area of youth empowerment and engagement.”
