It was gathered today that Full payment of salary would be rolling in as soon as the 2016 budget is passed in Osun State or rather State of Osun. Hopefully, this would clear the air and workers can have genuine smile on their face again.
"Mr Najeem Salaam, the speaker of the House of Assembly of the State
gave these assurance in Osogbo, during an interactive session on the appropriation bill.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that civil servants on Grade Level 8 and above had been receiving half of their salaries since last year.
Salaam, however, said the capturing of the full payment of workers’ salaries in the budget was an indication that the government was working hard to ensure that civil servants were adequately paid.
He urged civil servants to work hard and play their roles, especially in generating revenue with a view to making the budget achieve its goals.
“It is important for civil servants to work hard; let us block all leakages so that we can have enough fund to carry out our obligations, including payment of full salaries of workers,’’ he said.
“The purpose of the assembly is one, irrespective of our political party we belong to and I want you to see this as a challenge to serve”, the statement quoted the speaker." -Tribune
This is a word of consolation especially for workers from Grade level 8 and above, since this has been a very tough time for these workers, since some are indeed lamenting the woes of their inability to meet up with their responsibilities. Some were feeling that majority of the Junior Staffs are already earning and living better than the Senior staffs, since the Junior staff are collecting full payment of their salaries(at least up to the last month paid).
