Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has raised the alarm over a story which quoted him as saying that PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar would lose to incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 16 presidential election.
The stories, which have enjoyed wide circulation on social media, also quoted Fani-Kayode as describing Atiku as a “Chamba” man pretending to be Fulani, and berating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for choosing him as their presidential candidate.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of plotting to use vehicles painted in PDP colours to attack Nigerians.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party said that the APC was also plotting to implicate top members of the opposition party, including its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki; and Kogi West senator, Sen. Dino Melaye.
The statement read, “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alerts of a sinister plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and certain agents of the Buhari Presidency to load ammunition into vehicles painted in PDP colours and the names of our candidates, particularly our Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki as well as Senator Dino Melaye and use them to attack Nigerians and orchestrate violence ahead of the elections.
President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the Church to continue to stand for righteousness and truth, and preach against all forms of corruption.
Buhari, represented by Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, made the appeal on Thursday in Makurdi at the 15th Biennial Conference of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).
He said it was important for the Church to always stand on the side of righteousness and truth, as ”it is only righteousness that can elevate our country.”
He lamented the recurring crises in Benue since 2011, and called on herders and farmers to sheath their swords and live in peace.

An Osun State high Court, sitting in Osogbo, the state capital, has sentenced the killers of a 400-Level UNIOSUN student, and his accomplices to death.
A 19-year-old AbdulRafiu Zakariyahu, Yusuf Kareem, Ayuba Ibrahim, Isiaq Yusuf and AbdulKareem Adeoti, have been arraigned in connection with the killing of a student of Microbiology department, Osun State University, Timileyin Sonibare who was in 400-Level before he was killed.
The accused were arraigned on three count charges of conspiracy, murder and misconduct with the corpse of the deceased.
No modern capitalist economy allows its forex management policy to be in the hands of just one man – one man so powerful that he decides who gets the forex and how much. It’s even worse where the one man in question is not only unelected but came directly from one of the country’s commercial banks. And with this immense power, he could only pretend to decide the value of the naira in respect of other currencies.
Of course, it can’t be more bizarre that this is happening in a modern capitalist democracy with the chief banker of the nation overly powerful to be handing forex to whom he pleases. Can’t we, then, understand why rather than our current forex management policy — particularly CBN’s dirty floating of the naira — being pro-investment, pro-economic growth and pro-job creation and anti-poverty, it is the opposite?
